It's Been Four Years! And a Blog Giveaway

I can hardly believe it!  Four years ago today I gave blogging a try and posted for the first time.  I never dreamed that all of you would help turn my blog into such a cheerful corner of retro and vintage fun.  But you have.

You all are so kind and thoughtful and incredibly supportive.  I heart you!

You've stuck with me as I continue to obsess about vintage tablecloths.

You've read lots of posts about our farm life (and then our move to the big city).

You've read all about our beagle Twyla.

Occasionally, Captain Project gets a mention.

You've followed my cooking adventures.

Heard about all sorts of projects.

You've endured endless posts about my shower cap production.

And apron making.

And, of course, some general silliness.

Despite your eyeball rolling and probably wanting to kill yourselves...

You've stuck with me!

I can never accurately put into words how much I appreciate you ~ every one of you who's actively followed my blog and every one of you who pops by now and then.  Well, Retro Revival simply would not be the same!

As a little token of my appreciation, I'm giving away a set of my pot mitts.

(I have these in all sorts of fabrics so email me at Cindy@RetroRevival.Biz if you'd like to buy a set.)

On December 31st, I'll draw a winner from those of you who leave a comment on this post.

Thank you again for helping make blogging such a joy!

I Won the (Marriage) Lottery

22 years later and I'm still madly in love!

There is no present or greeting card that could ever describe or express the gift that is already mine.

I am lucky!

(Click here to read a bit more about my marriage and to cringe at pictures of my oh-so-80's wedding dress!)

Happy Birthday Retro Revival!

*Follower Alert!  For a chance to win this month's free blog giveaway, please scroll down to my August 5th post for entry rules*
One year ago this month I officially launched Retro Revival.  What a year it's been - wonderfully satisfying, at times amazingly challenging and exhausting, but ultimately the most creative, fulfilling year of my life.  Woo hoo!
Happy birthday, Retro Revival, you're one year old this month!
Thinking back over the past 12 months I have a few highlights to share:
  • I've made over 150 sales through my website (http://www.retrorevival.biz/cart/) and 46 so far through Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop/RetroRevivalBiz)
  • Exhibited and sold my wares at four craft fairs
  • Have over 175 total customers and 22 repeat customers
  • My products are now in eight retail shops
  • I've met sooo many delightful people and many thoughtful customers have sent me unsolicted thank you notes
  • I have THE most supportive family, friends, blog followers and Facebook fans - your unrelenting encouragement has meant more to me than what I could ever express and I am incredibly grateful!
  • And last week I sold my 300th shower cap! (I'm making progress toward my goal of ridding the world of those ugly, plastic, disposable caps!)
Just in time to celebrate my one-year business birthday, I have seven new shower caps available; here are a few:
("Colorful Candy" on the left and "Ooh La La" on the right)
("Retro Fashion" on the left and "Zen Garden" on the right)
Thank you again, Followers!  I'll continue to keep you posted on my business progress and all things retro on this blog:)

21st Wedding Anniversary

I love celebrating life's positive moments.  Whether the festivities are subdued or lavish, a fortunate spent or not, I believe that it is always important to revel in the delight of our special days.  May 20th is one such occasion that I embrace with glee -- 21 years ago Paul and I married!
(Gotta love the '80s!  My dress had ginormous puffy sleeves!)
Paul is likeable, easy going, very smart, clever, very funny, often goofy, so handsome, hard working and (almost always) very easy to love.
I saved this quote by Anne Morrow Lindbergh (pioneering American aviator, author and married to Charles Lindbergh) I found in a magazine several months ago:
"When you love someone, you do not love them all the time, in exactly the same way, from moment to moment.  It is an impossibility.  It is even a lie to pretend to.  And yet this is exactly what most of us demand.  We have so little faith in the ebb and flow of life, of love, of relationships.  We leap at the flow of the tide and resist in terror its ebb."
She's right.  Paul and I have 21 years of marital ebbs and flows and I'm so happy that I've rode the waves reasonably, and often expertly, well.  Sure, there were delieriously happy days in the beginning and wonderful surprises throughout the years.  And sprinkled in from time to time were devasting lows and incredible challenges.  I recognize that I am happier now than I've ever been, feeling a renewed love for my husband and a sense of wonder and anticipation for what the next 21 years will bring.  For so many reasons, but especially because of Paul, I am a very luck lady!
Now, with a wink, Retro Revival offers this witty apron featuring images of the "perfect huband."  Think he doesn't exist?  Well here he is, doing the dishes, cleaning the house, paying the bills, changing the diapers:
And if you happen to know of a single lady with a sense of humor, I offer this little number featuring kitschy, 1950's "wisdom" on how to snag a husband!  The fabric really is hilarious with advice such as, "Show him that you love housework," "Cook special dishes for him," and "Don't argue -- he is always right!"
This "Blushing Bride" apron makes the perfect bridal shower gift:
(The fabric features diamond rings, champagne glasses and other wedding-themed celebratory images.)
All of my aprons are available at http://www.retrorevival.biz/cart/
Please leave a comment on this blog entry and you're entered to win the May blog giveaway (contest ends 5/31).
