Super Deep Fried Super Bowl Sunday

Ever get an idea and then really go crazy with it?  Captain Project wanted to try making his delicious fried chicken in the turkey fryer on Sunday.  When putting together the grocery list, we kept adding things that we wanted to fry (previously, we'd only used the turkey fryer for, well, turkey!).

I present you with pictures of "Paul and Cindy's 1st Annual (because we'd die if we ate like this all the time!) Super Deep Fried Super Bowl Sunday!"

Corn on the cob and Brussels sprouts:

Made Paula Deen's recipe for hush puppies:

A few wings:

And finally the chicken that started this whole, crazy idea:

For dessert we wanted to try something I found on Pinterest ~ deep frying Little Debbie Strawberry Cheese Cake Rolls but our grocery doesn't carry them.  Instead, I mixed together some cherry pie filling, raspberry jam and cream cheese and rolled them with wonton papers:

I popped them in the freezer to keep while we started the "fry fest" and they stuck together like glue.  Could NOT get them apart without tearing the wrappers and ruining them!

Just as well because we realized deep fried berry desserts in peanut oil would be pretty gross.  I suggested we both just pop a Lipitor for dessert!

It was all delicious!  And as I type this I swear I'm still full!  And getting ready to hit the gym.  Obviously.

Dressing Up for Christmas

I've lived with dogs all my life.  Two Boxers (at the same time), a Great Dane, a Doberman, a German Sheppard/Cocker Spaniel mix, a Cocker Spaniel, and now Twyla.  Never before, with any of our other dogs, have I been so ridiculous...

But I just cannot help myself!

Ooooh how I love this Beagle!

Flocked Christmas Tree

We bought a new Christmas tree.  Something much smaller which I like.  I love the old-fashioned flocking too!

A closer glimpse of some of my favorite ornaments...

I've checked my list and think I'm finished shopping.

Now to get wrapping!

Fall & Thanksgiving Aprons

Fall seems to be flying by just about as quickly as the leaves are changing color here in the DC area.

And my Retro Revival apron orders are piling up as high as the raked leaves!

I think everyone is looking forward to Thanksgiving celebrations.

I know we are!

Beagle as Sleeping Beauty

Captain Project's been doing lots of business travel lately.

Good thing I have Twyla, my sleeping beauty, to keep me company.  Makes me smile when I wake up and see her laying under the covers with her head out and (almost) on the pillow!

Hope you have lots to smile about today!

Bouquet Beauty Creation

Another Retro Revival "Bouquet Beauty" in progress.

A little field of lavender hued flowers meant to adorn a pretty head.

Remember the last one I showed you?

When I first created this (prior post here), I really did it for the whimsy of it.  Never did I imagine it would sell!  But it did.  Two months on, and I've sold several of them (available in my Etsy shop).

How could you not smile wearing one of these?!

Making them is a true labor of love.  I painstakingly sew each flower (this lavender one has over 70 flowers on it!) on to the cap.  Totally worth it, though, especially when I hear from my happy customers.

Ellen shared a picture of herself in her Pink "Bouquet Beauty," and said, "FABULOUS!  It feels good on and every girl out there will look pretty as can be while wearing this.  It has a nice balance and no, it isn't heavy at all.  I will be wearing it while swimming in my pool!  Because I am just that glamorous. Glamour and quality cost money. This is well worth it.  In fact, I am ordering a spare.  Yes, it's that good.  My friends need to be glamorous too when they visit. You are never too old to play and have fun."

I got such a kick out of her saying, "Because I am just that glamorous."  What a hoot!  And I couldn't agree more!

I am Show Ready!

I'm drowning in shower caps!  Not really, but this is what 100 of them looks like!

Just two more days before Retro Revival heads to the 45th Annual Historic Occoquan Arts & Crafts Show.  I'm so excited!

I'm well prepared with lots of inventory.  I'll have 232 aprons, 100 shower caps, 45 insulated travel flat iron cases, 40 sleep masks, and 60 pot mitt sets.  And I also have some exciting new display pieces and ideas for my tent (pictures soon).

If you're in the area, please come and visit me!  I'll be in tent #107 on Mill Street (that's the main drag, along the riverfront).

In the meantime, Twyla's going to help me out of the tub!
