I'm a happy gal this morning. Our wonderful son and lovely daughter-in-law (married in January) are here from Fort Stewart to celebrate Thanksgiving with us!
Everyone's still asleep, except Twyla:
She's my sous chef. Can you see the plea on her face? I just know she's thinking, "Please drop something already!"
The pie is in the oven (cherry cranberry this year), veggies are chopped and ready for the stuffing, taters are cleaned and cut (Idaho and sweet) and the turkey's seasoned and ready for deep frying.
I'm trying out a new green bean recipe this year; got some raised eyebrows when I announced no casserole this year;) And who knows, maybe this will be the first year I don't burn the marshmallows on the yams!
The wild turkeys are doing their morning strut across our property.
Pretty cocky on Thanksgiving morning, right?!
Ahhh, enjoying the peace and quiet before the festivities begin. Thinking about all I have to be grateful this year ~ so many blessings, including YOU, my loyal blog readers! I wish you all a bountiful day, surrounded by the ones you love and pie, lots and lots of pie!
I am also grateful for our brave and fierce military. Praying for their safety and hoping they'll reunite soon with their families.
Happy Thanksgiving!
