My Lumberjack

We have lots of beautiful live oaks out here on our farm

And hickory trees

A wild palm tree too!

Hurricane Irene pounded us with rain and wind ~ just a small drip compared to what she unleashed on other towns up and down the east coast ~ and took out one of our hickories

(Surveying the damage)

This is Twyla's favorite live oak (the one in the middle)

She spends countless hours in its shade

Sadly, her oak was recently hit by lightning.  The tree's pretty close to the house so we were relieved the house wasn't damaged.  Of course, Captain Project was thrilled for the opportunity to whip out his chainsaw.

A man and his chainsaw!  He cracks me up.

Sad that we lost the hickory and such a large limb on the live oak, but on the bright side, Paul will have lots of wood for smokin' meat!

(Gawd I love this man's legs!)
Jeez, a earthquake and hurricane all in one week ~ happy weather's behaving this week!  All of you make it ok through the quake and storm?

Hope you'll come back again on Tuesday.  I'll be sharing who won my August blog giveaway and announce what's in store for September!

Hello Cindy,
You have some big beautiful trees on your farm. Yes, it is always great to have lots of firewood stockpiled.
Smiles, Paula

Wow, Cindy! What a beautiful property you have! And Captain Project is looking very chic in his man apron, I must say. So glad to hear that you didn't suffer much damage at the hand of Mother Nature. It's a shame about the trees, but at least you're all ok xxx

Give a man a chain saw and an apron and he is happy. Looks like Mr. Project man had a good week.

Men do love their chain saws don't they.
Lee will be using his today :)
We only lost limbs and branches, no trees.
I am glad y'all came through ok too.

Hi Cindy,

I'm just glad that none of you were hurt by the disasters. The trees were grand, but just trees after all, and you found the silver lining.....smoking wood! Have a great weekend.

Hugs,
Meri

We lost a tree, too, but it wasn't anywhere close to the house and it didn't add a lot to the overall appearance, either. I'm glad you had minimal damage!

Oh my Cindy what a sweet plantation you have there for Miss Twyla to graze upon....love those live oaks. When we lived in Texas they used to put lights in them to show off how gorgeous they were at night. Smiles...Renee

I hate losing trees but it happens. Great that the Captain can utilize the left overs.

I thought the earthquake was sorta cool and all we got from Irene was a little wind and sprinkles.
