Quite a few people have asked about the vintage appliances we used in my Retro Revival tent at the Occoquan Craft Fair (prior post here), so here's the back story on their transformations. I'd been wanting something extra special, something really eye-catching, to help draw shoppers into my booth.
Here is the before booth:
And the new, improved, booth!
I found these on Craig's List, the refrigerator for $100 and the stove for $20.
Neither were working so Captain Project gutted them of their mechanical parts. Next, he scrubbed and cleaned them to near perfection (ugh, were they filthy!), and then spray painted them the perfect 1950's pepto pink.
Gutting them not only made them significantly lighter for transport, but they also doubled as apron and other supply storage to and from the show!
During the show, we hid inventory and other necessities and didn't have to worry about hiding the big plastic bins we'd used in the past.
I couldn't be any happier with our booth now. I'm convinced it made a huge difference to my sales, and if nothing else, it sure brought smiles to lots of faces throughout the weekend!

Absolutely love them! I don't know about the sales but they sure add tons of charm to your booth that's for sure. What a great re-purpose of stuff that would otherwise end up in the landfill...Kudos!
Brilliant!!

Hurray for craigslist and handy hubbies! Booth pieces make your booth adorable and they would have drawn me right in!
Thanks for sharing.

Love it! You two are so talented!
I love how you paired them with the black and white floor. It looks like it's more comfortable for you to stand on for long periods of time.

What a great idea to gut them! I love the pepto pink you used!
