Some Winter Color

It snowed again this week.  Several inches of the stuff blanketed our town and with the frigid temps, it'll likely be here until next week when predictions are calling for even more snow!

Ugh!  I miss the sun, warmer weather and mostly, color!

So yesterday I made my own color.  Created my own sunshine.

I dug into my stash and pulled out my most vibrant floral fabric and sewed this beauty:

Vivid, red cabbage roses on a sky blue background.

I'm imagining spring popping up soon, with real roses blooming against a clear blue sky.  Soon.  Very soon.  I hope!

Snowflake Vintage Rhinestone Brooches

A few of my vintage, rhinestone brooches ~ the ones that look like snowflakes.

They're sparkly

And this one!  My all time favorite.  Snowflake-like, I actually wear it year-round.

Closer:

And a couple of newer ones (not vintage).

It's bone-chilling cold here today, making me pine something fierce for our Florida farm!  Think I'll pin on one of these beauties which will give me a warm smile.

Winter Styling Coffee Table

While the snow piles are still frozen outside, I decided to fashion my own snowy vignette in our living room.

Some of my white hobnail atop a silver platter...

...A cup or so of Epsom salts...

...Makes for a bit of snowy sparkle.

Putting this together was like a grown-up version of playing in the snow.  And it smells nice because of the lavender-scented Epsom.

Hope you have a sparkly day and that you're keeping warm.

I Think I'm Part Alligator

Hope you're all bundled up and keeping warm today.  Sounds like much of the country is freezing under the polar vortex.

I am seriously missing the warmth of our farm in Florida right about now!  It's only going to reach 19 here today.  And speaking of Florida...

I think I'm part alligator.

At least my skin is turning alligator-like in this cold weather.  Jeez, I'm chapped all over!  The lack of humidity and heater running just about non-stop is not helping either.

Here's a peek at some of my lotion collection.  I have lots.  And I'm constantly slathering it all over myself, trying to relieve the dry itch.

Recently...

I made a great discovery!  Baby oil gel.  Ever heard of it?  Me neither, so I grabbed a couple bottles and I am happy to report this stuff is amazing.  I mean it's really amazeballs!

After just a few slatherings, my skin's already been downgraded from alligator to lizard.  Thinking it'll look and feel human within a few more days.  Ahhh, sweet relief!

Keep warm, my friends.  And well moisturized.
