I'll pass on the chocolates (not a big fan and would rather tear into a giant bag of chips) and red roses (I prefer pink ones, planted in the garden) and instead enjoy a sweet card, maybe some cheap champagne (my fave) and some great music.

Which got me to thinking, if I were to make a mixed CD of my favorite love songs, which ones would I include?
This, by the way, is a nearly impossible list to assemble! Aren't just about ALL song lyrics referring to love? Sweet love, twisted love, lost love, lustful love. As you'll see, I'm clearly not a Barry White or Babra type, but a bit eclectic maybe. Here's my list, in no particular order:
She's the One ~ Bruce Springsteen (well, OK, this is probably my favorite and derseves top billing)
Thing of Beauty ~ Hothouse Flowers
Hallelujah ~ Jeff Buckley
I've Got A Woman ~ Ray Charles
At Last ~ Etta James
Trouble ~ Ray LaMontagne
Kissed It ~ Macy Gray
Into the Mystic ~ Van Morrison
Allison ~ Elvis Costello
Ain't no Sunshine When She's Gone ~ Bill Withers
I Will Always Love You ~ Dolly Parton (not Whitney!)
A Little Less Conversation ~ Elvis
You Send Me ~ Sam Cooke
Ain't No Other Man ~ Christina Aguilerra
Nothing Compares to You ~ Sinead O'Connor
I Think I Love You ~ Partridge Family (David Cassidy WAS singing this to me)
Ring of Fire ~ Social Distortion
What a Wonderful World ~ Louis Armstrong
Into Your Arms ~ The Lemon Heads
500 Miles ~ The Proclaimers
Rave On ~ Buddy Holly
Into My Arms ~ Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Somebody to Love ~ Queen
Glitter in the Air ~ Pink
I Never Loved a Man ~ Aretha
Steal My Kisses ~ Ben Harper
Lover's Vacation ~ Paul Thorn
True Companion ~ Mark Cohn
Walk Through the Bottomland ~ Lyle Lovett
What'd I Say ~ Ray Charles
Shook Me all Night Long ~ AD/DC
Bitta' Honey ~ Mingo Fishtrap
Wild Flowers ~ Tom Petty
Romeo and Juliet ~ Dire Straits
You Can Leave Your Hat On ~ Joe Cocker
Honorable mention for Pour Some Sugar on Me ~ Def Leppard (most ridiculous love song lyrics ever - ha!). And finally, in case my husband wanted to listen to this CD, I'd add Givin' It Up for Your Lovin' ~ Delbert McClinton (his fave singer).
What songs would you include on your Valentine's CD? I'm sure I've left lots of greats ones off my list and I'd love to hear from you!
In addition to love songs, I have other love goodies on my mind. Retro Revival has several love- and Valentine-themed aprons and shower caps. Over the next several days I'm stitching up a few more so please check my website often!

Something by the Beatles...my favorite :)
Cindy, although it's not really a love song--I mean the guy doesn't really "have" the girl, but one of my faves is "On the Street Where You Live" by Dean Martin! ;p

PS: That Lemon Heads song also gets my vote! ;p
Great list Cindy! I love making compilation CDs!
I was stomping around just the other day singing 500 Miles! Delbert is high on our list too!
Hate to break it to you though - David Cassidy was singing to me.
Life without music seems so dull and Valentine's day without music is just unthinkable. I just love listening to the tunes of 'Hero' by Enrique, 'My heart will go on' by Celine Dion and many more lovely tracks. Cannot think of spending my valentines day without songs. We enjoy singing our favorite songs together and recollecting some old memories. Its fun!
I just found your blog from the link on Aprnista's, I love your shower caps!
What a great list Cindy...but I must correct you my doesn't-look-like-she's-aged-a-bit-since high-school friend...David Cassidy was singing that song to me!
