Our sweet daughter hopped on the train and rode down from Philadelphia to spend the weekend with us for Father's Day. As I was driving into Union Station to pick her up, I called her to ask her where she was standing. I couldn't see her so I asked her what she was wearing and she replied, "A blue gingham shirt."
(We were not together when we each bought these shirts!)
We decided to immediately remedy the situation by shopping for a new shirt.
And bought the same shoes.
Of course!
Traipsing through the mall, ignoring the stares, we were quietly singing Gingh-nam Style. Get it? Hahaha!
We spent Saturday exploring Alexandria and discovered the DelRay neighborhood, about five miles from our home. After wandering through the shops and thrift store, we had lunch in a charming little French cafe.
I had my first Croque Madame. With a side of fresh-cut fries and washed down with a bit of Mimosa. Delicious!
On Sunday, Natalie spoiled Captain Project with a new hat, a bottle of whiskey and a t-shirt. She and Daniel (our son-in-law) are so thoughtful and generous.
After living so far away from each other for so long, it's wonderful to have Natalie just a two hour train ride away from us!

I KNOW you love living closer to your sweet daughter!
There's no way she's your daughter, you two look like sisters! Just gorgeous! I'm so glad Captain Project had a good father's day!
