I'm pretty vain. I try not to be, but really, I am. Case in point: my vision's been deteriorating for years, yet I've refused to get glasses, instead, relying on drug store cheaters, and when I don't have them on, driving my family and friends nuts with, "Read that for me, please."
So, I finally went to the eye doc. I don't know what news was worse, hearing that I need to wear them all the time or the fact that they're bi-focals!
I wanted a retro-inspired pair. A fashion showpiece, just like this vintage ad suggested.
Something comfortable and beautiful.
I didn't want to end up looking like Don Draper's cranky, incompetent secretary.
I'm afraid I ended up choosing a pair that's a bit Buddy Holly-ish!
Note to self: Do not choose your frames while your eyes are still dilated!
After walking around looking goofy for a few weeks, and when I was visiting my BFF in Iowa, I found new frames!
I like them! Thank you for helping me, Melanie.
The good news is that I can see! Ripping out those stitches is so much easier. My headaches have diminished. I can read road signs.
The bad news is that I can see! It's like hundreds of wrinkles have suddenly appeared on my face, especially around my eyes.
And OMG, is the white tiled bathroom floor really that filthy?!
Jeepers peepers!

They are really cute! I actually like the dark frames, too! Do you still have those so you can switch them out depending on your mood? I love glasses. I've needed them since the 10th grade and I was the only kid HOPING they would say I needed them! LOL!
ReplyDeleteFrom someone whose worn glasses most of their life......you make glass look good! You have nothing to worry about girlfriend, oh and yes, you'll start to discover everything....go look at some leaves on trees, (yes they do have individual leaves)you'll see what I'm talking about. ;o)

You are hilarious! I got lasik about 10 years ago, but now my reading ability is shot. I have a drawer full of readers from the Target Dollar Spot...which are fine most of the time. But I cannot see things below knee level...so I really don't want to know how dirty my base boards are. =D
ReplyDeleteI LIKE wearing glasses - you can hide behind them.

I never hestitated getting glasses 'cause I couldn't see the highway signs when I was driving.I always try to buy glasses that are flattering to my face and the lines of the frames go up, to minimize the appearance of wrinkles.
ReplyDeleteLook at you in your apron cleaning that floor! You're just too cute! I'm finally needing glasses too but still winging it with the readers. You give me hope. :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute!!! I like your retro look! My friend also just got a new pair and she looks so much better wearing some cool new frames and even better--yah, she CAN SEE, TOO!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think your glasses look pretty on you!
ReplyDeleteI am putting it off too! I have some I can use for reading in the shop but it is such an effort now to read the small print on bottles and the like. I keep on having to hold the object out so far - my arms are not long enough!! They look cute!
ReplyDeleteYou look great, Cindy. I love both frames you chose. The black ones may be nice with darker winter clothing and preppy wool sweaters.
ReplyDeleteI've worn glasses since I was 7 (contacts on a daily basis) and finally now that I'm in my md 40's I can appreciate my bad eyes. See because I'm highly near sited it took me a while for me to have trouble seeing up close. The easiest fix is to take down the strength of the contact of my nondominant eye a half a diopter. My doc thinks I can avoid readers for a long while. :)

I like the second pair of glasses the best. And they look cute on you.

I can't stand bi focals
Have to have two pairs.
Chris
You look adorable in both pairs of glasses. It's amazing what I can even with my Dollar Tree glasses!
ReplyDeleteCute post!

Donna
How cute! You "almost" inspire me to break down and get glasses. I've been using the Dollar Store readers for a couple of years now.
ReplyDeleteWe had so much fun choosing the perfect pair for Cindy and of course, she looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLOL! You crack me up Cindy!
ReplyDeleteHey, it happens to the best of us! I don't have to use my glasses 24/7 but when I drive at night...I NEED them! I have 2 pair of glasses, the ones I wear majority of the time are a little Buddy Holly-ish, but I think they're cute.
Yours are super spec-tacular! :)

You silly girl. I love your glasses. They are so cute.

You look adorable! I am laughing because that is exactly what my sister said after her eye surgery, "Oh, My, I didn't realize that my bathroom was dirty! EEEK!!"
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, most of the rest of us can't see either!
Blessings,
Susie
