Baby Birds in the Back Yard

Wow, are we having the most beautiful Spring here in Northern Virginia!  The weather's been warm and sunny and the skies bluer than blue.  All sorts of trees and shrubs are bursting with color.  After being gone from the area for almost 20 years (and enduring the rough winter), I'm really appreciating all of the beauty.

But the best surprise of all?  This!

A nest of Robin hatchlings underneath the deck!  Sorry about the fuzzy pictures but I don't want to get too close and I zoomed in to snap them.

All day long, the momma and papa take turns, swooping in to feed the babies.

What a show!

Hope you have a tweet day!

  1. We had a couple of birds lay eggs in a birdhouse 'finally' after it hung there empty for years. I snapped pictures of the eggs and went to take pictures of the babies, after checking on them a few times. Guess what?! They'd already flew the coop! ha ha. My how they grow-- :)
Robins a fun... I think our momma and daddy bird Barn Swallos bu the Honey thinks they were Martins (though I'm not sure if the bird house was high enough for Martins)
Last year we watched a family of Wrens hatch out...it is always so fascinating to me. Now- If I could just get my chickens to do this! It would really help me out.
