Vintage Bread Boxes

I love it when I can find a new and interesting way to use a good vintage find.

Flanked by a watchful bird and flying pig, this jadite-colored, tin bread box now sits atop our hoosier:

With so little storage space in our new kitchen, this little beauty has come in handy.

Not to hold bread but our linen napkins and extra dish towels!

In other "bread box" news...remember the enamel one I found at the Florida flea market a while ago (click here for the original post)?  I was using it to hold my ric rac but again, because of the lack of storage space, I've put it to use on the main floor of the house.

It sits within close reach on our kitchen sideboard, hiding my camera and attachments.

For unique storage solutions, bread boxes may be the greatest invention since sliced bread!
