Bon Appetit {Julia Child Apron}

“The best way to execute French cooking is to get good and loaded and whack the hell out of a chicken. Bon appétit.”  ~ Julia Child

Ha!  Loved that woman!

Look at this awesome kitchen towel I found in elloh's Etsy shop:

Elloh's art is heavily influenced by pop culture and this image is just one of her many incredible prints.  I've got my eye on her "That Girl" inspired print for my next purchase.  Anyway, when I found this amazing dish towel, I knew exactly what to do with it:

Why, make an apron, of course!  I used a thrift store find, red and white checked tablecloth for the underside and a flea market find, red and white stripped curtain for the sash.

And just for fun and picture-taking purposes, I had to pose with a bottle of wine ~ Julia would want me to!

Bon appetit indeed!

  2. The towel made the perfect apron! I've got to go over and check out the "That Girl" print. I loved the show when I was a kid and my hubby bought me the first two seasons of the show for a gift a few years ago. I enjoy popping one of the DVDs in and going back in time every once in a while.

    I'll certainly be watching for your "That Girl" creation. :)

  9. Love Julia Child, can't cook like she and don't even try but I loved her sense of humor. She would be flattered with your apron. Have a little nip for her and lots of butter.

  12. Hello Cindy,
    Julia Child always made me laugh, and of course wine is required during cooking. I love the apron you created, the color combinations are perfect and eco friendly. Way to go!
