It's supposed to be 79 degrees here in Florida today. A real tropical wonderland!
We don't build snowmen here but instead, water skiing pryamids:
These are vintage shots from the ski team at Cypress Gardens (opened in 1936), once known as the Water Ski Capital of the World. During the 50's and 60's this place was the mega-attraction of Florida (pre Disney).
We were fortunate enough to visit Cypress Gardens in December 2009 and it was awesome! Heavy sigh...the property was sold and reopened a couple of months ago as Lego Land.
Now as the Christmas music blares throughout our home, I'm making my own snowflakes.

And some snowflakes for gifts:
These paper doilies sorta look like snowflakes, right?
Hoping I don't drip any sweat on my packages!
A little water skiing sure would feel nice about right now.

ReplyDeleteI love the pics of the Cypress Gardens skiing girls! I remember them from when I was little! The first pair of skis that I learned to water ski on were Cypress Garden skis and had a photo of the girls of them. Thanks for the blast from the past and thanks for letting me enter your fun giveaway!

I've always been amazed by the trick water skiers. How do they stay so dry? Very fun retro photos however they did it.
ReplyDeletethank you for hosting the giveaway.

ReplyDeleteThat's just sad that they tore down Cypress Gardens for a plastic theme park! I only know of it from the 40s movies and always wanted to see it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute picnic basket of goodness...red checks always make me smile, as does rick rack, aprons, linens, etc. Thank you for offering a chance to win this. Merry Christmas!
I wish they still had the "fun" fun parks! Those girls are just beautiful.
